Christie Golden discussed details of Starcraft: The Dark Templar Saga, a trilogy that serves as a Starcraft 2 prologue tie-in. The novel is set four years after Brood War, where Starcraft 2 storyline picks up.
Jake Ramsey, an archeologist, is assigned by Arcturus Mengsk’s secret son alias Mr. V to investigate one of many alien temples and artifacts suddenly arising throughout many nearby worlds after the Bhekar Ro finding (read Starcraft: Shadows of the Xel’Naga).
Jake Ramsey finds a dying Dark Templar from the Preserver caste — which are historians, containing the thoughts and memories of all protoss who ever lived. A knowledge that may seal the fate of the galaxy needs to be saved. Even if it means keeping the knowledge alive in the mind of an enemy of the protoss.
The dark templar preserver uploads the stream of vast memories into Jake’s mind overwhelming him. All of Protoss history is now available to a terran, and ensuing conflict’s outcome lies on Jake’s hands.
